Sorry, I’m not the person to give“that” kind of Consultancy in Regulatory Affairs!

May 29, 2018

Hello! It has been a really long while. I really hope that you are feeling well and enjoying yourself at the very beginning of summer. As you recognize, there are continous changes on the global perspective; on the economy, politics, ethical values, etc. This has certain reflections on the pharma industry, as well. So, are we going to adapt, change, or keep the things the way they are and go on with our lives as if it is all the same?

I would like to share an experience I’ve had lately with a client:

There is a gentleman who is the business development manager of a pharmaceutical company and approached me just a few weeks ago. He asked for Regulatory consultancy in CIS Region for certain products which we could certainly help with. But we were so different on the “principles and values” side… Our job is to do the work correctly, ethically, with good quality, on time and conforming with the regulatory requirements, with kindness and reliability as well as with cost effectiveness.

This gentleman was only focused on the last part “cost effectiveness”. So, after 10 minutes of our dialogue, I said “ I’m sorry sir, I’m not the person to give that kind of Consultancy Services in Regulatory Affairs.” Not everybody is our client. Because we also have certain principles and values. Therefore it is important to keep things clear at the beginning.

Sometimes the client picks the service provider and sometimes the service provider picks the clients.

But the harmony between the client and the service provider is very important in Regulatory Affairs. Because at the end of the day, we are all doing things for pharmaceutical industry and as a result for “Human life”. That is our perspective to do things for good in order to give consultancy for the people and companies that can change human lives for good.

That’s why you can call me “picky” but it is important to have certain principles and values. So, we serve to the people and companies that have principles and values and that serve human life for good.

We believe that clarity comes from honesty and kind communication. You can also check my other article “6 Key Points for Communication Skills in Regulatory Affairs” which is related to this topic. Please share your experiences and comments below.

Have a wonderful week!
